An evaluation of microblogging as a marketing communication platform - an extended abstract

This is the paper I presented at the International Marketing Conference. What you see here is just an extended abstract. The detailed paper is work in progress and will be posted soon.

It was an awesome experience - being the youngest of all the presenters and probably one of the two people who didn't own or were working towards a doctorate. It was exhilarating to see some of the best brains in academia discussing, debating and providing me direction on my work. Meeting people from Wharton, Kellogg and numerous universities in the US, Aus and NZ gives you a snapshot of what the marketing priorities of different countries are! Although, I was a little disappointed to see that only two papers had a new media focus.

There's empirical research, there's quantitative research and there's more - I call my work "bean-bag research". Coz, that is where most of this work was done! And to see it being acknowledged and recognized feels great.

UnGyaan #4: Viral

A viral can be anything that passes from one to another at great speeds - it can be a email forward, an e-book or in most cases, a video. The perfect vehicle to spread brand buzz. Here's the perfect example - see this and tell me if you don't feel like forwarding it!

Notice the difference between "Social Media" and "Social Networking". And yes, I adore CommonCraft!
